<p style="font-size:18px;margin-bottom:8px;">Today marks the start of LGBTQ+ Pride Month. It's a time to honor our rich and vibrant queer community, reflect on our past, and recommit to the work ahead of us.
</p>
<p style="font-size:18px;margin-bottom:8px;">The first Pride was sparked by trans women of color like Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera -- and over 50 years later, the LGBTQ+ community has made a lot of progress, but we're <em>still</em> fighting.
</p>
<p style="font-size:18px;margin-bottom:8px;">We know that LGBTQ+ individuals already face significant adversity and disproportionately experience mental health challenges, experience housing insecurity at a higher rate, and tragically, for many transgender individuals in particular, suffer increased levels of fatal violence.
</p>
<p style="font-size:18px;margin-bottom:8px;">Today, in Republican-controlled states nationwide, GOP lawmakers are continuing to pass laws targeting the LGBTQ+ community. Dangerous anti-transgender legislative attacks have been introduced and passed in state legislatures around the country -- laws that we know stigmatize and worsen the well-being and mental health of transgender youth.
</p>
<p style="font-size:18px;margin-bottom:8px;"><strong>None of this is new for LGBTQ+ individuals.</strong>
</p>
<p style="font-size:18px;margin-bottom:8px;">Time and again, our community has shown tenacity. We've put in the work in the past, and together with President Biden, Vice President Harris, and Democrats across the country, we'll continue the fight until everyone -- no matter your sexual orientation or gender identity -- can live in a world where they feel safe, accepted, and loved.
