<p style="font-size:18px;margin-bottom:8px;">Texas Republicans' actions over Memorial Day weekend were nothing more than a shady attempt to suppress voters and voices. It was a threat to our democracy, plain and simple -- and we're grateful that state Democrats were able to stop the bill for now.
</p>
<p style="font-size:18px;margin-bottom:8px;">My grandmother and I spent the weekend talking about what was going on in Texas -- about the anti-voter bills that are being introduced nationwide and about the attempts to rewrite our nation's history. We've been down this road before, and we cannot afford to go down it again because this bill is so bad.
</p>
<p style="font-size:18px;margin-bottom:8px;">It is probably the worst that we've seen nationwide. Not only would it ban mobile voting booths, drive-thru voting, and add restrictions to mail-in voting. It goes as far as empowering partisan poll watchers and banning early voting on Sunday mornings.
</p>
<p style="font-size:18px;margin-bottom:8px;"><strong>It's the most blatant attempt to curb Black and brown people from voting that I have seen in my lifetime. And we have to stand up against it.</strong>
</p>
<p style="font-size:18px;margin-bottom:8px;">The DNC is already hard at work running a 24/7 voter protection program, placing voting and organizing staff in key states, and fighting these bills in court if they become law. But those efforts require your full support.
</p>

We must do everything we can to stop this legislation in its tracks, and if it does get passed, we must do everything we can to fight it in the courts. Our democracy depends on it.
