History will remember yesterday's insurrection at the Capitol as a dark and shameful moment for our country. It is proof that no matter how far we believe to have come, we still have further to go in the fight for the soul of our nation.
</p>
<p style="font-size:18px;margin-bottom:8px;">As the late Congressman John Lewis said, <em>"Democracy is not a state. It is an act, and each generation must do its part to help build what we called the Beloved Community, a nation and world society at peace with itself."</em> I am in constant awe of this grassroots community and our fight for a more just nation -- because it has not been easy.
</p>
<p style="font-size:18px;margin-bottom:8px;">When I took over as chair, we had just lost the White House. Democrats controlled neither chamber of Congress. Chaos and misery had risen to the forefront of our nation, just as they have today. Rather than despair in defeat, we made significant investments early, when the election was far from people's minds, to ensure the foundation of our party would be ready in time for candidates to build upon it and to ultimately get us back on track.
</p>
<p style="font-size:18px;margin-bottom:8px;">It was that mindset -- resolve in the face of adversity, belief in our collective power, and hope for a better tomorrow -- that powered us forward in those dark days. It's clear we must call upon those values again right now, as we face down the darkness of this moment. The only way through is forward.
</p>
<p style="font-size:18px;margin-bottom:8px;"><strong>As a member of this grassroots team, I hope you will take a moment to reflect on our victories in Georgia. Thanks to you and so many others who gave their voice to this fight -- donating their precious time and money -- we were able to flip two Senate seats for Democrats. You showed that when this grassroots team bets on our country and our shared future, we win.

<p style="font-size:18px;margin-bottom:8px;">It means that now, Democrats will control not just the White House, but both chambers of Congress, too. It means pushing full speed ahead to pass Joe Biden and Kamala Harris's agenda to build our country back better. That is no minor accomplishment.

<p style="font-size:18px;margin-bottom:8px;">The results in Georgia prove that if we invest in years of work supporting grassroots organizing, state parties, and our party's data and technology,
<u><em>we can flip any seat and any state.</em></u> But yesterday's events at the Capitol prove that Democratic victory is just the start when it comes to healing our nation.
</p>
<p style="font-size:18px;margin-bottom:8px;"><strong>Over the next four years, we can build on our victories. We can grow our majorities in the Senate and the House. Most importantly, we can restore compassion, decency, and democracy to our nation.</strong>
</p>
<p style="font-size:18px;margin-bottom:8px;">Together, we can continue to build power from the ground up alongside Democratic elected officials and state parties to make real change for our country. Our work continues on behalf of the American people.
